With 52 days remaining before the 2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships held in Louisville, KY on February 2 and 3, 2013, Swiss Cycling has announced the 11 athletes that will represent Switzerland at the historic event. The Swiss squad will be made up of five elite men, one elite woman, four under23 men and one junior man.
The 2013 Swiss National Championships will be held on January 13, 2013 in Steinmaur, Switzerland.
The elite men's roster includes reigning Swiss champion Julien Taramarcaz who finished a strong fourth at the Roubaix World Cup last week; Simon Zahner, the highest ranked Swiss rider in 13th place; Lukas Flückiger, Arnaud Grand and Marcel Wildhaber.
Swiss champion Jasmin Achermann will be the lone rider to represent her country in the elite women's race. Achermann claimed the first World Cup podium of her career at the Roubaix World Cup, when she followed the attacks of American champion Katie Compton and Sanne Van Passen. Achermann ultimately crossed the line 28 seconds behind winner Compton for third place.
The four under23 riders for Louisville 2013 are Lars Forster, reigning under23 champion Fabian Lienhard, Lukas Müller and Severin Sägesser while reigning junior champion Dominic Grab will be racing in the junior men's world championships.
The 2013 UCI World Elite Cyclo-cross Championships will be the first time the 60-year-old event has been held outside of Europe. Tickets for this historic event held on February 2nd and 3rd, 2013 can be purchased online at www.louisville2013.com.
