Belgian Kevin Pauwels, winner of the first World Cup in Tabor leads the first UCI Ranking of the 2012/2013 cyclo-cross season. Pauwels has a 283-point lead on Belgian champion Sven Nys. Though he has not started his cross season yet, Zdenek Stybar remains in third place in the ranking which uses a 12-month rolling calendar. World champion Niels Albert is fourth with fellow Belgian Tom Meeusen in fifth spot. On the strength of his strong early start to the season, with five C1 wins and a seventh-place at the World Cup, American champion Jeremy Powers moved up to tenth place.

The highest ranked under-23 rider is Belgian Wietse Bosmans in 22nd spot with 504 pts. He has a lead of 64-points on Mike Teunissen of the Netherlands and 196-points on American Zach McDonald. Though he is still 21 years old, two-time under-23 world champion Lars van der Haar now races in the elite men's category, as approved by the UCI; the young Dutch rider sits in seventh spot in the ranking.
Though she is on break, reigning world champion Marianne Vos is still leading the elite women's ranking with 2,100 points. The Dutch rider plans to return to racing on November 25, 2012 at the Internationale Superprestige Gieten in the Netherlands. Retired Daphny van den Brand of the Netherlands is in second with American champion Katie Compton in third, 380 points down from Vos. Belgian Sanne Cant jumped two spots up to fifth, with only 12 points separating her from fourth-placed British champion Helen Wyman.
Mathieu van der Poel, of the Netherlands, leads the men junior ranking which does not use a rolling 12-month calendar for its calculations. Belgian quinten Hermans is second followed by compatriot Kyle de Proost in third. Dutch Matjin Budding is fourth and Logan Owen, the only American in the ranking, is fifth.
